Our Hospital offers a variety of services for small animals, which include:
Puppies & Dogs: We recommend bringing your puppy in at approximately 6, 9, and 12 weeks of age. During these puppy visits, we will perform a comprehensive exam, administer necessary vaccines, de-worm and check for intestinal parasites. Our staff will also discuss important topics for new puppy owners such as nutrition, house training and heartworm and flea prevention. We will provide you with a complete puppy care kit and medical record to help you with this new addition to your family.
Once your animal has completed the puppy series, we recommend an annual visit to our office. During this visit, we perform an annual examination, administer appropriate vaccines, perform heartworm and fecal tests and refill your heartworm and flea preventions.
Kittens and Cats: We recommend bringing your kitten in at approximately 6, 9 and 12 weeks of age. During these visits, we will perform a comprehensive exam, administer vaccines, de-worm, check for intestinal parasites as well as test for Feline Leukemia/Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Our staff will also discuss important topics for new kitten owners, such as nutrition, heartworm and flea prevention and caring for your new kitten. We have chosen to use only PureVaxTM FVRCCP and Rabies vaccines which have been proven to significantly reduce the occurrence of feline sarcomas, a tumor that may occur with the use of other vaccines.
Our Feline Leukemia Vaccine is administered with the VET JETTM transdermal vaccination system for enhanced immune response through targeted antigen presentation.
Once your animal has completed the kitten series, we recommend an annual visit to our office. During this visit, we perform an annual examination and administer appropriate vaccines.
Seniors: As your animal matures and reaches the age of 6, we continue the annual examinations and adjust the vaccination schedule according to your pet’s needs. At this stage of your animal’s life, we encourage senior wellness blood work to ensure all internal organs are functioning properly and to help detect any underlying disorders.
At our Hospital, we have the ability to perform routine laboratory testing, including complete blood counts, serum chemistries and urinalysis, with same day results. In the event your animal needs more comprehensive testing, we have access to outside laboratory services.
An important part of your animal’s health and well being is routine dental care and hygiene. Oral disease can lead to systemic illness of your pet’s heart, liver, lungs and kidneys. We recommend routine dental cleanings, home dental care and regular check-ups. A dental cleaning includes a complete prophylactic cleaning with ultrasonic scaling, polishing, fluoride and an application of OraVetTM Barrier Sealant. This sealant creates an invisible barrier that prevents plaque and tartar forming bacteria from attaching to the teeth. In addition to routine dental care, we also perform tooth extractions and surgery when needed.
In the event your pet requires a radiograph, we offer in house diagnostic radiology with automatic film processing, which allows for same day results.
We also offer limited ultrasonagrophy with the ability to schedule an in house specialist for more comprehensive diagnostics.
Our Doctor Staff offers surgical services in areas such as soft tissue, ophthalmic and orthopedic as well as routine procedures such as spays, neuters and feline declaws. All surgical patients receive pre-operative blood work and pain control medication both during and after the procedure. Our staff uses the latest in anesthetic monitoring equipment which includes EKG, blood pressure and heart rate, blood oxygen saturation and temperature monitoring. For additional information, review our Surgery Release Form.
We are pleased to offer laser surgery as an exciting new option for safe, comfortable treatment. In many procedures, the laser can replace the scalpel and provide a better alternative to traditional surgery.
Why Laser Surgery? Laser energy seals nerve endings as it moves through tissue, therefore, your pet feels less pain post-operatively. The Laser also seals small blood vessels during surgery, which allows for less bleeding. Finally, the laser does not crush, tear or bruise because only a beam of intense light contacts the tissue, which results in less swelling. Therefore, your animal quickly returns to normal daily activities.
In addition to anesthetic monitoring, our staff uses this equipment for diagnostics such as EKG, blood pressure and measuring blood oxygen saturation.
We have the capability to measure pressure in the eyes using the TonopenTM . This is an important screening test to rule out ocular disorders such as glaucoma. Glaucoma is an increase in ocular pressure, which may ultimately lead to blindness. Most commonly found in cocker spaniels, toy breeds (maltese, shih tzu, poodle), chows and boston terriers.
We offer a full service, on-site pharmacy with the latest in high quality medications. In the event a special order medication is required, we can accommodate those needs as well.
Our Hospital offers Home AgainR microchipping to quickly identify lost pets and reunite them with their owners. This is a safe, simple and permanent form of pet identification that is registered with a national database. The procedure is simple and similar to administering a vaccine. Anesthesia is usually not necessary for implantation, but we recommend sedation.
Our Hospital has boarding facilities that include indoor kennels and runs and outdoor play areas. Animals boarding with us are fed Purina Pro Plan EN and provided with clean blankets to make their stay with us as comfortable as possible. Should your animal have special needs such as daily medications, we can accommodate that as well. Our fully trained staff is responsible for walking and feeding the animals and monitoring their health during their stay.
Our Groomer, Kristen Dixon, offers grooming and bath services at our Hospital. Kristen, who was born and raised in Houston, has been on our staff since March of 2004. She has been grooming dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds for over 13 years. Kristen schedules her own grooming appointments Monday thru Friday and enjoys meeting each new client to discuss how they would like their pet groomed. She works hard to ensure each pet looks their best when they leave our office.
In addition to grooming, we perform routine baths as well as medicated baths for diagnosed skin conditions.
